About Dr. Morita

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Director, Grief & Bereavement Institute
Dr. Morita was born and raised in Hyogo, Japan. After working at an international corporation in Osaka for three years, she relocated to the United States in 1990. She received a Master of Arts Degree (M.A.) from Columbia University, Teachers College (New York) in Counseling in 2000 and a Doctorate of Psychology Degree (Psy.D.) from Long Island University (New York) in Clinical Psychology in 2007. She successfully completed a two-year externship from Bellevue Hospital as well as an internship at the Long Island Medical Jewish Center. For two years, she worked in a clinical setting with children struggling with behavioral and health issues in North Carolina and California. Dr. Morita relocated to Hawaii in 2009 and worked as a staff counselor at Hawaii Tokai International College. In 2012 she assumed a position as the Bereavement Coordinator at Hospice Hawaii to provide grief care for patients and families as well as group counseling sessions for the bereaved community. Dr. Morita returned to Japan in 2019 and her first book in Japanese entitled “Miracle of Saying Goodbye.” is released in May 2021. She continues to publish articles in professional journals and lecture internationally and domestically. Her second book will be released in Japanese in March 2025.
