In the October 2020 Issue of the Japanese Journal of Child Nursing I discuss the topic of “End of Life Care for Children” and “Child Hospice Care.” As a Clinical Psychologist and a grief specialist, I discuss how the end of life care for children is approached in the United States with particular emphasis on the child’s perception of death and how to provide psychological care. I had the privilege to be acquainted with many forward thinking and dynamic nurses leading the way in this important field of medicine while attending the World Children Hospice Forum last February in Yokohama. They are the driving force behind the Children’s Hospice movement in Japan. Their essential and groundbreaking effort in Japan is worthy of far more attention and I look forward to collaborating with them in the future.
